What’s New at CPAAA

Legal Notice

The Central Plains Area Agency on Aging (CPAAA) intends to fund caregiver respite services through the Kansas Respite for Alzheimer’s & Dementia (K-RAD) program, beginning March 1, 2025, and continuing through June 30, 2025 with the possibility to renew for three (3) additional one (1) year periods (July 1 – June 30). Services provided shall include in-home day respite, congregate out-of-home day respite (adult day program), and out-of-home overnight respite (inpatient). Services are provided to individuals 60 years of age or older who have a written or probable diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia and who reside with an informal caregiver 18 years of age or older in Butler, Harvey or Sedgwick County. If you are interested in receiving an application to become a K-RAD service provider for CPAAA, please contact Jennifer Lasley, Director of Information and Community Services, at (316) 660-5128 or Jennifer.Lasley@cpaaa.org. Letters of interest must be submitted no later than February 7, 2024.

SHL Elections

The 2025 Kansas Silver Haired Legislature elections are scheduled to be held in the spring across Kansas. Any Kansan age 60 and over who is a registered voter may file for candidacy. The term of office is two years and members may be re-elected continuously.

The CPAAA deadline for filing as a candidate is Monday, February 10, 2025, and the final elections for candidates being contested will be held on Wednesday March 12, 2025. Voting options will include ballot by email, postal mail and at limited in-person locations. Visit our Get Involved page for more information about SHL and the 2025 election.
